Ensure availability of Liquid Medical Oxygen

Make sure there is a constant supply of liquid medical oxygen in hospitals: States in the centre.

The Center has asked all states and UTs to guarantee the availability of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) in all healthcare facilities and an uninterrupted supply chain for their refilling in a letter that was sent on Saturday.

“It should be guaranteed that LMO is accessible in healthcare facilities and that a continuous supply chain is in place for their refilling.

The Additional Health Secretary, Dr. Manohar Agnani, wrote in a letter to the states, “Adequate inventory of oxygen cylinders, along with backup stocks and a robust refilling system, is maintained.

The letter continues by stating that, despite the fact that the number of Covid cases in the nation is currently low and not on the rise.

The operationalization and upkeep of this medical infrastructure are of utmost importance in order to meet any challenges that may arise in the future.

As a result, the letter asked you to instruct all the relevant departments to make sure that functional life support equipment, such as ventilators, BipAp systems, and SpO2 systems, as well as their consumables, are available.

The Center has also requested that States/UTs revitalise their oxygen control rooms in order to quickly address problems and challenges relating to oxygen.

Dr. Agnani wrote in the letter that the implementation of the onboarding of all healthcare facilities using oxygen to the oDAS platform for daily oxygen demand and consumption be monitored.

Medical oxygen is a significant and essential resource in all clinical settings, but it is especially important when managing pandemics.

According to the letter, a steady supply of oxygen is essential for saving lives while administering care to patients and managing Covid-19.
