In October, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) concluded that Google was abusing its dominant position in Android and ordered it to lift limitations on device makers. Google lost its Supreme Court petition to prevent the directions on Thursday, and now has seven days to comply.
Google said on Friday that it will work with India’s antitrust authorities after the country’s highest court upheld an antitrust decision requiring the company to adjust the way it advertises its popular Android platform.
In October, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) concluded that Google, controlled by Alphabet Inc, abused its dominant position in Android and ordered it to ease limitations on device makers, particularly those relating to app pre-installation. Google was also penalised $161 million.
Google lost its Supreme Court petition to prevent the directions on Thursday, and now has seven days to comply.
