Observing astronauts navigate in space amid billions of stars against the backdrop of Earth is both fascinating and humbling. Astronauts can be seen carrying out a spacewalk to install two new solar arrays at the International Space Station in a video released by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) (ISS).
The solar arrays—a collection of solar panels—were installed by American astronauts Josh Cassada and Frank Rubio. According to the American space agency, the arrays were delivered on November 27 by Space X’s Dragon cargo craft.
The installation of the solar arrays took seven hours to complete. The new arrays will boost the ISS’s power capacity by up to 30%, generating 120,000 watts of energy during orbital daytime, according to video text inserts.
The BBC posted a video on Instagram of the Nasa astronauts’ spacewalk at the International Space Station. The video’s caption reads, “Out on a spacewalk with NASA astronauts.”

“We want to see them walking on the moon right now,” one user commented. “I’m guessing that not being afraid of heights is one of the requirements for becoming an astronaut.” Another remarked, “It’s a long way down to Earth.” “Absolutely incredible, brave, I am always in awe of the amazing things humans are capable of doing when they are not killing each other for questionable gains,” a third said.
