The “Reimagining Diabetes Care Report 2022” is released by Fitterfly.

Reimagining Diabetes Care Report 2022, published by the health-tech company Fitterfly, which works in the field of digital therapeutics (DTx), covers the time period from January 2022 to December 2022.

The report emphasises the need to reimagine, rethink, and reassess diabetes before it reaches pandemic proportions based on a sample size of over 3000 people who enrolled in Fitterfly’s Diabetes Management programmes.

It also makes an effort to comprehend the gap in the diabetes care continuum.

The complexity of type 2 diabetes, which is influenced by a variety of factors including nutrition, stress, fitness, sleep, and pain, is one of the reasons why the numbers are rising exponentially.

Observations from the report include:

The data demonstrates that younger people are now looking for diabetes management solutions. A little more than 5% of diabetics were under the age of 30, while 38% of those with the disease were between the ages of 31 and 45.

In addition, 45% of non-metros were more knowledgeable about and used cutting-edge digital therapies to manage their diabetes.

Additionally, it was discovered that there is a direct link between obesity and diabetes, with over 89 percent of those who have the disease being overweight or obese. 56 percent of the respondents had high blood pressure or high cholesterol, and 14 percent had metabolic syndrome-related underlying conditions like PCOS or hypothyroidism.

According to the report, about 51% of the respondents had their diabetes diagnosed within the past five years and are now in the prime of getting it under control. Even if half of all Indians with diabetes are able to forgo medication, this will have an immediate effect on costs and output. It’s interesting to note that stress levels gradually decreased after the age of 60, with only 28% of respondents reporting high levels of stress.
