Updates for iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 Released with the Freeform App and Apple Music Sing; iPhone Supports 5G in India

Users of Airtel and Jio in India now have access to 5G networks thanks to the Apple iOS 16.2 upgrade.

Software upgrades for Apple’s iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 are currently rolling out to compatible iPhone and iPad models. This follows a period of beta testing during which new features and a number of updates that fix over a dozen security flaws on the devices were introduced. The stable iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 software updates will deliver, among other things, the collaborative tool Freeform, Apple’s Advanced Data Protection, which adds end-to-end encryption to several iCloud services, and the Apple Music Sing feature. For consumers in India, the new update also makes 5G network compatibility available on compatible iPhones.

The new Freeform app is available on Apple devices thanks to the iOS and iPadOS 16.2 updates. The Cupertino-based tech behemoth claims that the app would enable users to arrange their work or creative endeavours on a single whiteboard for sharing and collaboration with others. Users of Freeform will be able to collaborate and add files while on a FaceTime conversation.

Additionally, Apple Music users with compatible devices can use the Apple Music Sing feature, which adds a karaoke-like singalong function for a selection of music in the Apple Music app. Advanced Data Protection, which adds end-to-end encryption to iCloud backups, photographs, and more, is another feature of the iOS 16.2 update.

The new update would significantly increase iPhone support for 5G networks for Apple consumers in India. The iPhone 12 and newer models support 5G, however after Airtel and Jio recently launched 5G services in India, a software upgrade was required to make the improved connectivity available.

Users on Jio and Airtel networks can now connect to 5G thanks to the recent update. All of these feature upgrades were distributed to beta testers last week as part of the iOS 16.2 RC update.

In addition to the additions, the update comes with a number of security patches that address known flaws in Apple products. The updates fix security problems with many programs, including Accounts, the iTunes Store, Photos, Safari, and Weather. Rapid Security Response, which sends security patches to iOS without requiring an upgrade to a new version of the OS itself, is also included in the 16.2 updates, according to a 9to5Mac report. The article also states that iOS 15 users who have not updated to iOS 16 or who are unable to do so will also receive security updates.
